CPMC Kalmanovitz Child Development Center

For more than 50 years, CPMC’s Kalmanovitz Child Development Center (KCDC) has provided world-class, comprehensive care for children in need of specialized mental health, behavioral, and developmental therapies. The KCDC Child Psychology Post-Doctoral Program greatly expands access for children and adolescents in San Francisco to receive urgently needed behavioral health care now, regardless of their family’s insurance status or ability to pay.

The KCDC Child Psychology Post-Doctoral Program greatly expands access for children and adolescents in San Francisco to receive urgently needed behavioral health care now, regardless of their family’s insurance status or ability to pay. More child therapists mean KCDC can provide one-on-one care that helps identify thought patterns at work with a focus on trauma-informed care. Trained therapists familiar with these techniques help patients by understanding the nature of their trauma while creating a culture of safety and empowerment to promote healing and resilience. Waitlists for care have fallen by 40% since the first class of post-docs started.

“Our multi-disciplinary team facilitates nearly 18,000 visits each year and the expansion of our post-doc program will open access to our services much faster to families in need. We are grateful to partner with the LSP Family Foundation to build on our program of child development excellence and train a new generation of specialists.”
